Wear the Red - Don't Let the Red Wear You
Thank you for joining me this week as I continue with my discussion on colors. Last week, we discussed various colors and their meaning. Many people become intimidated by colors and fashion, believing they simply can't wear certain colors because of their skin tone. Or, simply because other people have told them they look less flattering in certain colors.
Personally, when I think of fashion and style, I think of stepping out of the box. I love to try things that people think are out of the ordinary. It makes me feel as if I'm set apart and no walking through life as a drone. One of the ways that I experiment is with colors. And, after recently becoming a personal stylist for plus size women, I introduce my client's to the exploration of color in which they are quite surprised.
However, like everything else, there is a trick to adding color to your wardrobe. It's not so much the color, but more so the tone of the color. For instance, you would never be caught dead in green. OK, but perhaps a deeper green would suit you more. And, because we know from reading my last blog that green stands for energy, what a welcome addition this would make.
So, lets go over the colors, their meaning and when to wear colors. Our first color we are going to discuss is the color red. Why? Because many people fear red. Red is a powerful color that if worn properly illuminates power. In fact, red is a bright color that compliments most skin tones.
Red is also a versatile color and can bring out many interpretations to those who are around you when wearing red. For example, it you want to illuminate power with your career, try a black two piece skirt suit with a red shell top underneath. Finish it off with a pair of red high heel business pump and a red handbag. This will intimidate those you are up against. Especially brilliant for those in the business of negotiating.
But, if you want to tone it down for a more casual look, but still feel in control of your day. Add red accessories to your wardrobe, such as red bracelets, a red scarf and a red necklace. Adding these small accessories in red will allow you to still see yourself in power. These are what I call visualization tricks.
And finally, for intimate power, its about being classy, not trashy. Before springing that red power on your significant other in the bedroom, ease them into your new found power. For example, the two of you should go out to a nice dinner together with you wearing a deeper red dress or set. This allows your partner the chance of visualization. Add brighter red accessories or black accessories so that you are not causing a shock to your partner's senses. Underneath of this red dress or outfit, you should have on the bright red but yet powerful lingerie. So that later on, after dinner you can take your romantic night to the level you want to take it to, without intimidating yourself or your partner.
So, now that we have discussed our first color, go out and give it a try. Wear the red, don't let it wear you. Red is a sign of maturity and is basically for the grown person confident enough to wear it. As always, I placed a few references you might want to try. Have a look at the carousel and get your hands on some of that red fashion. For more great styles and fashions, be sure to visit http://www.bargainsdirectly.com
